Calshot RNLI station gratefully received a £1,000
cheque from Knightwood Masonic Lodge, Totton, on Sunday
22 January.
Mr Alan Murray who was the Worshipful Master of the Knightwood
Masonic Lodge last year visited Calshot lifeboat station
on Sunday morning and presented the cheque to Mr John Horton,
the lifeboat operations manager.
The money was collected
during Mr Murray’s time in the chair and the RNLI
is one of the local charities the lodge supports.
Alan explained that he was an ex seafarer, as were a
lot of the lodge members, and he had reason to be grateful
to the RNLI for assistance given whilst he had been at
sea.
This is the second time such a generous donation has
been given to Calshot by Knightwood.
John Horton commented “The RNLI depends entirely
on voluntary donations and legacies and this cheque is
a very welcome contribution to the station’s running
costs. We are very grateful from all the support we get
from local fund raisers.”
Two lifeboats are stationed at Calshot, a 52ft Arun class
All Weather Lifeboat and a D Class inshore boat.
