Paul Rapson, an established professional photographer, was the overall winner of the 2006 Kimber Architectural Photography Competition recently, with his image titled 'To The Boardroom'.
The judge, Ven Dodge, said that it was an excellent example of an impressive, colourful image with all the architectural features still being kept in sharp detail. Paul saw the potential of the shot while he was shooting an advert for a carpet company, he asked the owner if he could come back and shoot the stairs for this own pleasure. Paul says that it is the attention to detail that makes or breaks a winning image.
Paul has recently been taken on by Little Van Gogh, a company that offers monthly rentals of modern (up to now) traditional artwork that are suitable for company receptions and boardrooms. It is early days but Paul is the first photographer to be taken on by the company and the initial signs are that the clients are very pleased with his blue ink series of abstract photographs.
With the huge advances in technology, digital photography has come on leaps and bounds and now is accessible to everyone. Paul is able to offer one-2-one tuition for any one who is struggling to wade through the minefield of aperture, f-stops, shutter speeds, raw files, jpgs and all the computer digital processing. |
