BBC Radio Four's programme "Any Questions" set
up shop at Calshot Activity Centre on Friday 1st September
2006.
The Sopwith Hangar was full with local people who had
travelled from across the Waterside and the New Forest
to engage in lively debate with the host of the show Jonathan
Dimbleby and his four panellists.
The panel on the programme were, Shireen Ritchie: Founder
of the Conservative Women-2-win Campaign, David Aaronovitch:
Guardian Columnist, Peter Hitchens: Mail on Sunday Columnist
and Zulfi Bukhari: Chief Executive of the Muslim Public
Affairs Committee.
The first question put to the panel was by Hampshire County
Councillor Brian Dash, who asked, "How can a child's
behaviour be improved before it is born?"
This sparked off some very lively comments from the panellists
who continued on to answer other questions which included:
Is the role of the post office to deliver our mail or
to maximise profits by placing unwanted junk mail in our
letterboxes?
Britain is a small crowded island, will there come a point
when we will have to say enough is enough to immigration
and migrant workers?
Is it acceptable to prevent overweight women accessing
IVF treatment on the NHS?
What is the panel's view on compulsory diversity training?
Any Questions can be heard on BBC Radio Four on Friday
evenings from 8:05 p.m., the programme is repeated on Saturday
afternoon from 1:05 p.m. followed by "Any Answers".
If you miss the live or repeated programme on the radio,
you can hear it again via the BBC Radio Player on the Internet. |
