New Hope Community Church in Hardley, Southampton has purchased new front doors with the help of a grant of £1520 from Esso and ExxonMobil Chemical at Fawley Refinery.

The community centre based at the church runs a toddler group during the week as well as many other community orientated events, such as Oasis, which is a free lunch session with entertainment geared towards the elderly.

The centre required new doors and this grant enabled them to purchase some with invaluable features.

The doors provide disabled access to the centre through the aid of low aluminium thresholds and tube handles.

They also have an anti-finger trap mechanism and hold-open facility.

The high security doors provide a safer environment for children visiting New Hope.

Amanda Smith of New Hope Community Church said “We are extremely grateful to Fawley Refinery for this generous donation, without which we may not have been able to purchase these doors at this time.

Through help such as this we are able to continue meeting local community needs.” Gisela Muns, of ExxonMobil Community Affairs, recently visited the New Hope Centre to view the doors.

She commented “We were pleased we could support the centre with the purchase of the doors.

We feel it is a worthy cause as they provide a fantastic service to the local community.

The features of the doors are very important as we believe that safety is vital and a pro-active approach such as this installation is highly commendable.”
