Police are appealing for information after damage was caused to 26 beach huts at Calshot beach overnight between Wednesday, August 6 and Thursday, August 7.
24 of the huts were broken into although nothing appears to have been stolen from inside. An attempt has been made to break into two others.
Police Constable Adrian Woodhead of Hythe Safer Neighbourhoods team said: “Considerable damage has been caused to the huts to gain entry; it appears a tool has been used to rip off the doors at the front of the huts.
I would estimate the cost of repairs to all the beach huts to be in the region of two thousand pounds.
“I would like to speak to anyone who was at the beach yesterday evening or early this morning, particularly anyone fishing or walking their dog.
They may have information which could assist the investigation” Anyone with information is asked to contact Hythe Safer Neighbourhoods team on 0845 045 45 45, or call Crimestoppers, the charity, anonymously on 0800 555 111. |
