Following their successful 40th anniversary production of Brigadoon, Waterside Musical Society held a special dinner and dance event at the Dibden Golf Club.
Members past and present were invited and a thoroughly enjoyable evening was had by all.
Belinda, Lady Montagu the president of the society was there and gave a speech of congratulations.
She has attended most of the productions over the years and has always been extremely supportive.
Chairman Robin Watton gave an amusing speech welcoming past members who had travelled great distances to be there, thanking the organisers and encouraging all to continue to produce great shows and concerts and keep the Waterside Theatre alive.
It was good to see founder member Viv Dando there with his daughter Ruth, and former Chairman David Morgan and his wife Jean who gave many loyal years to the society.
Waterside Musical Society is starting rehearsals in January for a spring concert entitled “Back to Our Roots”, which is a programme of music from the late 60s and 70s.
This will be performed at Hanger Farm Theatre and St Andrew’s Centre, Dibden Purlieu.
Anyone 14 years and over, who is interested in joining the group would be welcome to come along to Friday night rehearsals at Cadland Primary School, 7.30pm- 10pm, resuming on January 9th 2009. |
