| Santa Steam Specials at Exbury |
The crisp wintery weather is giving a magic dimension to Exbury’s Santa Specials, where children and their family take a steam train ride through a frosty garden to see Father Christmas.
Snowmen, elves and other Christmas characters can be spotted in the gardens as seasonal music adds to the atmosphere.
“We’ve got plenty of Christmas magic here at Exbury,” said manager Nigel Philpott “But a sprinkling of frost on the ground makes it extra special.”
And there are plenty of attractions at the Christmas Fair that accompanies the Santa Specials throughout December weekends at Exbury Gardens.
Around 50 stall-holders are there, selling a huge range of gifts from woodcarvings to clocks, toys to candles and jewellery, cakes and books to orchids and luxury aromatherapy products.
Entrance to the world-renowned Gardens in the New Forest is free to everyone who buys a ride on the Santa Special, and a specially devised family Christmas Trail through the woodland walks is something the whole family will enjoy.
Set designer and owner of the hugely popular ‘Trigger the Road Train’, Roy Rogers has built another spectacular grotto for the children to see on their way to Father Christmas.
The theme this year is Christmas Night with the Elves where an Elf family in their house, illuminated by a starry ceiling, wait for Santa to pop down the chimney – and if you look hard enough, you might just spot him.
Trigger the Road Train, star of many Christmas parades and adorned with three and a half thousand lights, will offer rides through the Gardens.
Santa Specials and the Christmas Fairs are on December 20, 21 and 22.
They are very popular and must be pre-booked by calling 023 8024 5750 between 10.00am and 4.30pm Mondays to Fridays.
