The Calshot RNLI All Weather Lifeboat ‘Sarah Emily Harrop’ launched last Sunday morning, 17 February, to attend a local sailor suspected of suffering a heart attack.

A 67 year old Dibden Purlieu man was on board the 26 foot trimaran boat 'Caiman' with his son when he called for called for assistance just after 9am.

The boat was anchored off Fawley power station at the time.

The Coastguard requested that the Calshot lifeboat should launch to attend call.

Amongst the seven man crew of the lifeboat, commanded by station coxswain Duncan Cristie, were paramedic Mark Aylett and NHS first responder Mark Laughlin who were able to stablise the patient before he was transferred to the lifeboat.

The lifeboat then took him to Warsash jetty where he was landed and transferred to an awaiting ambulance.
