Waterside residents will have the chance to voice their fears with the teams that tackle yobbish behaviour, during a special drop-in session run by the police and council.
Residents in the Fawley, Blackfield and Hythe areas will get to meet representatives of the safer neighbourhoods team, as they reveal the results of a neighbourhood survey gauging levels of fear and experience of anti-social behaviour.
In the survey, which was dropped through more than 800 doors in the area several weeks ago, residents were asked to identify anti-social behaviour hotspots.
They were also asked why they thought problems were occurring and the impact anti-social behaviour had on their lives.
Inspector Kevin Leckey, from the safer neighbourhoods team, said: “The police have a responsibility to proactively target crime and disorder in partnership with other agencies. “Recent public meetings have unleashed anxiety and frustration at various problems in the area.
This is an opportunity for local people to engage with members of the neighbourhood police team, New Forest District Council and the parish council.
“The drop-in session is aimed at giving local people the opportunity to meet their local officers and agency representatives in person so that they can report problems and give us an idea of the level of anxiety in the area. We can then direct our resources to targeted areas.”
The drop-in session is between 3pm – 9pm on Wednesday, January 23 at the Gangwarily Community Centre, Fawley. |
