Detectives from Hampshire Constabulary’s Major Crime Department have jointly charged three youths with the murder of Goanese sailor Gregory Fernandes following an altercation in Fawley on October 20, 2007.
Two 17-year-olds and a 15-year-old youth, all local to the area, have been charged with Murder, Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH) and Violent Disorder.
They are due to appear at Southampton Youth Court on Tuesday morning, April 1.
Three others, a 14-year-old girl and two 14-year-old boys, from the Fawley area continue to be questioned by detectives, while an 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old youth have been released by police without charge.
Mr Fernandes, 32, who was working on The Garonne cargo ship, died following the racially aggravated assault which took place along Church Lane, Fawley, between 9pm and 10pm on Saturday, October 20. |
