Children at Fawley Pre School are learning new skills and having lots of fun at the same time, using a new laptop computer thanks to funding from Esso and ExxonMobil Chemical at Fawley Refinery.
It is now a requirement for children in Pre School to have access to IT equipment. Staffs at Fawley Pre School have recognised the potential benefits to the children of being taught Information Technology.
They hope that the use of the laptop will enhance hand eye coordination, knowledge and understanding of the world, mathematical development and language and computer skills.
Fawley Pre School is community run and provides high quality care and education to children aged between two and five.
Claire Joyce of Fawley Pre School said, “The children love to use the laptop and have already learnt how to use the touch sensitive pad instead of using the mouse, which has hugely impressed us!
It is clearly a valuable tool in their development and we are very grateful for Fawley Refinery’s donation which enabled us to purchase the computer.”
Gisela Muns, Fawley Refinery, Community Affairs said, “We were extremely happy to help Fawley Pre School.
Our local schools are very important to us and our education program makes a real difference in the classroom for pupils aged 2-18.
We were pleased that this laptop will help the children’s development and learning.” |
