From Monday 13 December for at least one week and weather permitting the HeatSeeker vehicle will drive around Hythe, Dibden Purlieu, Fawley, Marchwood, Totton and Eling.
It will be identifying poorly insulated homes in an effort to help residents cut their fuel bills and warm up their homes with improved insulation.
The vehicle is equipped with a thermal imaging camera. Typically the vehicle will capture up to 5,000 images per night.
At a later date, yet to be agreed, each area will then be followed up by a team of surveyors equipped with a personalised thermal image of each home advising resident on their heat loss and insulation measures.
Should our residents wish to proceed with insulation the typical costs will be £149 for loft insulation and £149 for cavity wall insulation and some residents may receive it free of charge.
The surveyors will be carrying a letter of introduction from New Forest District Council which advises that the scheme is optional and other insulation companies are available.
This is an extension of the scheme following its success earlier this year in the New Milton, Barton, Becton, Batley and Fern Hill wards.
