Calshot works notice

Listen Now

Calshot Visitor and beach hut owners at Calshot are advised that essential drainage works will take place in the area from 5 July.

Hampshire County Council is carrying out the works to route sewage more efficiently from various buildings at Calshot Activities Centre directly to the existing Southern Water Pumping Station in the public car park at Hillhead.

New Forest District Council is keen to assure the public that disruption will be kept to a minimum.

The contractor will undertake a "no-dig" pipe-laying operation which will involve drilling a small diameter pipe through the ground over a period of two to three weeks during mid to late July.

No car parks or roads are expected to close during the operation and beach hut owners will have access at all times.

Safety barriers will be erected around the works and the equipment as necessary and there may be some noise from the drilling work.

The work is being undertaken by Dyer & Butler and is expected to reach completion by 3 September  2010.
