During a week-long operation targeted at cyclists, officers worked with Safer Neighbourhood teams to give advice and high visibility clothing to riders.

A total of 125 people were stopped during the operations, which took place daily from Monday, November 1 to Friday, November 5, in different locations around The New Forest area during peak morning travelling times.

Most people stopped were given safety advice in relation to making themselves more visible to other road users.

They were also given a high visibility jacket, rucksack cover or snaps bands to help them to be seen when out on the road.

Sergeant Phil Lamb said: “The clocks have just gone back so this is the ideal time to remind road users that the conditions are getting worse and there will be less hours of daylight.

“It is hoped by helping those who ride bikes to be seen by other road users we can continue to reduce those injured or killed in road traffic incidents.”
