In the past fortnight I am glad to say that crime in the parish has fallen considerably with there being only 3 instances of theft of or from vehicles compared to the spate in February.

There have been no dwelling burglaries reported and only 2 non dwelling burglaries, 3 thefts and 3 assaults.

However there have been 8 reported instances of damage to property which I am sure is an under reporting as I am aware that at the moment Calshot Beach is suffering crime to beach huts by youths who mindlessly damage the huts.

This is unacceptable and police are actively targeting offenders and hope to make some arrests in the near future.

High Visibility foot patrolling and targeting of suspects has meant that it the past 3 days suspects have been challenged on the beach and forced to leave the area.

Please call in any suspicious or criminal activity to police as soon as you become aware in order that units can be dispatched to deal effectively.

Holbury Drove Precinct and other areas are being subjected to nuisance behaviour mainly at the evening time with up to 30 youths acting anti socially and drinking alcohol in public under age running around behaving immaturely and causing distress to some residents.

It is an offence to supply alcohol to persons under 18 and anyone who does sell or provide alcohol unlawfully to these youths will be prosecuted when offences are discovered.

Its is however important that calls on youth nuisance are honest and accurate this is in order that police resources are effectively deployed and to ensure that when youths are spoken to they are not falsely accused of anti social behaviour.

Recently there have been false reports of misbehaviour when police have been present, this reduces the credibility of the caller for future incidents.

To assist us in policing for the community we would request that parents ensure they know where and what their offspring are doing for their safety and to prevent them acting anti socially.

As from our experience on the street there are seldom problems with individuals but as youths met up and groups get larger the behaviour deteriorates with individuals competing for attention.

Thank you in advance for any assistance on this sensitive matter which does have an adverse effect on the community.

Finally if any person wishes to receive crime prevention advice then please feel free to attend Hythe police station to obtain leaflets and speak to an officer or alternatively we are currently using a mobile police station in the Fawley Parish to improve accessibility to the police this vehicle will be parked in prominent locations such as Fawley Square Tescos Blackfield or Tristan Close Calshot.

It has been used on two days recently and issues of concern raised are 1) Damage to Beach huts in Calshot, 2) Speeding motorists in Hampton Lane 3) Lack of facilities for children/youths in Calshot area.
