Hello finally I am back on schedule with this the latest and on time beat summary for Fawley Parish.
If anyone wishes to look back at recent crime reports then they will find that crime in this area is quiet low with no upward trend.
There has only been one assault and again the vast majority of crimes are to vehicles which are damaged mindlessly or have items stolen from them.
Some of these crimes are totally random and there will be nothing which can be done by the victim to prevent the incident. However often windows are broken as items are left on view to the offender.
Please remember not to leave valuables in vehicles and don’t have items or bags on display.
Though the bag may be empty and not contain valuables thieves will not know this until they break into the vehicle.
If people are interested we have stickers to put in your car, at Hythe police station stating that nothing is left in the vehicle and asking the offender “IS THIS A TRAP CAR” in order to deter them. (A trap car is one specifically put out by police to catch criminals).
Though the rowdy and nuisance figures are quite high this has to be put against the fact they are for the whole parish for 2 weeks.
The Holbury figures for this are mainly in Old School Close (11 of them) were youths aged 6-9 are in the street causing distress to other residents.
To deal this police are liasing with housing to deal with this matter which in the main isn’t of a criminal nature but breach of tenancy. PC COUCH from the Parish team is taking the lead on this and all parish officers will be visiting the area to patrol this has resulted in children being spoken to and made to wash off chalk marks they had put on the road.
Some bad news for Calshot I am afraid, there has been fire damage to 5 beach huts 3 of which were totally destroyed, it is very likely this was caused deliberately.
This has been investigated but unfortunately there are no leads to progress at this stage, so if anyone has any information to assist please contact me at Hythe police Station.
The good news for Calshot is that the main anti social youth in the area has gone to court and pleaded guilty to public order offences which have resulted in his being bailed for 4 months to allow him time to improve his behaviour, if he fails to improve there is the likelihood that he will receive an Anti Social Behaviour Order.
To prevent his re offending Brian Byrne of New Forest District Council is working with him closely.
The beach hut watch scheme for Calshot has been arranged for 09/06/07 at 1600hrs at Jubilee Hall Fawley with the meeting scheduled for 90 minutes. All beach hut owners are welcome/encouraged to attend.
In relation to vehicle nuisance I will be shortly visiting a youth who has been riding around Heather road on an unlicensed motor bike and will be dealing with all offences (no licence, insurance, reckless driving) and hopefully be able to identify other offenders.
All persons who act anti socially in vehicles will be warned re their actions and if they continue the police will seize their vehicles.
One of the issues as a police officer I often face is knowing a person has committed an offence but not having the evidence to pursue the investigation.
It can be very frustrating when persons who have knowledge decide not to make a statement to be used in court for reasons of their own which are understandable.
Please do seriously consider making a statement for court if requested it is the polices duty to protect all witnesses and all police officers take our duty to witnesses very seriously and any intimidation of a witness will be dealt with as a priority with those committing the act running a very genuine risk of being remanded to court or given bail conditions which prevent their entering relevant areas.
There has been a change in the leadership of the Safer neighbourhood team with Inspector Kenna being replaced by Inspector Leckey.
If any person has information as to criminal activities especially drug dealing, handling stolen goods or criminal use of vehicles then police contact myself or any other police officer so that this information can be dealt with sensitively and confidentially so that your personal details are protected. Your details are not divulged to any one.
