Welcome to this fortnightly update as to incidents in the Fawley Parish.

It has been very quiet for reports of nuisance in general with most reports in Holbury being in relation to youths in Old School Close playing football in street.

Heather road seems to be having a few more incidents of nuisance and a youth who is currently being targeted by police in relation to anti social behaviour, has been identified for an acceptable behaviour contract with NFDC to improve their actions, (failure to do so may lead to further police action and application for an ASBO with enforceable conditions attached, to prevent residents quality of life being adversely effected).

There has been one incident of Robbery in Fawley since the last update, on 09/05/07 a person had their handbag snatched and stolen with a large quantity of cash inside. This matter is currently being looked into by CID.

There has also been one incident were persons who were acting suspiciously tried to gain entry to an elderly persons address, by pretending they were being chased and wanted the occupant to let them inside.

Though this may have been genuine it is extremely unlikely due to the circumstances. Fortunately the person refused entry and challenged them and their story, to which they went their own way with no further problems.

It is vital for your own security and that of your property that you never let strangers into your house without first making sure that you are happy with their reason for being on your doorstep, and that you have made checks on their identification.

Any official agency or person who calls to your house will be prepared to show identification and wait whilst you contact their company/office to verify their presence.

Remember never take their telephone number but use their company’s telephone from the directory as you will not know if the number they provide is genuine either.

IF YOU ARE NOT HAPPY WITH THEIR PRESENCE, REFUSE ENTRY AND KEEP THE DOOR SHUT. IF YOU ARE AT ALL SUSPICIOUS THEN CONTACT POLICE IMMEDIATELY.

There will be a Beach Hut meeting at Jubilee Hall Fawley on 09/06/07 at 1600hrs for all those who own beach huts at Calshot.

The meeting will be to discuss the setting up of a local beach hut watch scheme to protect the beach huts at Calshot and to put in place patrols to prevent and deter crime and identify criminal behaviour and offenders for police action.

We now have a new Chief Inspector in the New Forest due to the recent promotion of Superintendent Winchester. Chief Inspector Cooper is based at Totton police station and is the District Commander for the New Forest District Council area.

Below are the incident figures for the last fortnight which again show that the area is a very safe one to live in with most incidents relating to anti social behaviour and quality of life issues.

To deal with this Hythe Safer Neighbourhood team will be putting in place various initiatives and operations in the coming months to deal with anti social behaviour and vehicle nuisance which are the main complaints coming to my attention when on patrol.
