Apologies for the delay in sending this beat up date through however I have been away from Hythe for a few weeks as such not in position to deal.
As such I will not give much of a written update but leave that for the next update which will be coming out in next few days.
However it is to be noted that in general crime has remained static from the previous weeks, however the number of nuisance calls in relations to neighbours and youths has gone up.
This isn’t to say that the matter is getting worse, far from it but it is a few issues which are generating multiple calls from the same area. These calls are not ignored but can’t always be dealt with to the satisfaction of the informant.
An example of this would be youths playing football on a play area which causes an issue for some persons.
In order to deal fairly with such an example police speak to the youths and advise of the effect on residents and offer suggestions (i.e. turn goal so not facing houses, keep noise down etc). However if no offences then obviously the youths are not moved on as this would be an abuse of police powers, if offences are found then that is a different matter and some youths have found this out when the line has been crossed and they have been arrested for anti social behaviour.
To deal with such long term issues police instead work with councils and other agencies in order to see if resolutions for the future can be found (an example of this would be to look at the proposed locations of new play areas and offer advice).
