Again the main calls to police are in relation to disputes and nuisance with no criminal offences, which if taken away from the overall total shows that Fawley Parish is a very safe place to live.
Calshot beach hut watch is now up and running with patrols of the beach by both police, other members of the extended police family and members of Calshot beach hut owners.
NFDC have provided a number of large maglite torches and high visibility jackets for the beach hut watch group which have now been passed on to members.
In my patrols of the area I have noticed that there are a number of wayward barbeque sites which have caused damage to the wooden groins. Obviously this is a concern as it is damage and if the fires are too close to the beach huts then we can have the potential for serious damage and public safety.
Therefore if you do have fires down on the beach please make sure that they are lawful and dealt with responsibly.
One aspect of the increased police presence at Calshot is that persons committing traffic offences are more likely to be noticed. It is therefore important that whilst enjoying the beach that drivers obey the one way system, speed limit and be lawfully driving as you are more likely to be court.
(This week there has been one positive breath test, and a fixed penalty notice in relation to misuse of vehicle and advice to 3 drivers who were seen to ignore the no entry sign to get to the toilet block.
Please bear this in mind and allow police officer to concentrate on criminal matters which is what we would all rather be enforcing!
In Holbury in the Renda Road area youths have been causing a nuisance and targeting one individual by calling names and displaying written signs which cause distress.
As a result of this a police investigation has identified the youth responsible for the sign and they are currently on bail to court, a second youth has also been sent to court for unacceptable behaviour and is about to sign up to an acceptable behaviour contract to help him and prevent further offending.
The main cause for concern this fortnight is that on the Heather road estate a youth tried to get into 2 dwellings during the night time, fortunately he was disturbed on both occasions and nothing was taken. However this obviously concerned and scared the occupants.
If any one has any information to assist the police as to who is currently committing burglaries and stealing from others then police contact me at Hythe police station (or one of my colleagues) so that we can deal, information can be taken confidentially however we would obviously much prefer a witness who is in a position to give evidence in court.
To do this the police have a witness care unit who offer advice and support to ensure that anyone assisting the police isn’t left feeling they are on their own.
In order to prevent burglaries to both houses, sheds and business units please remember to keep doors and windows locked and secure with valuables not on display.
If you see anyone acting suspiciously then please call us on 999 and let us investigate because it is essential that we get every opportunity to deal with criminals and if the matter turns out to be in order with no problems then no one will be offended by an honest action on your part.
