Welcome to this fortnights news letter for the Fawley Parish.

There is some good news in relation to community policing, in that Hythe police will be putting out increased patrols on Friday and Saturday nights to show a zero tolerance towards anti social behaviour drunkenness and public order This will be a weekly occurrence for the next month and be assessed at the end.

This is aimed at the Holbury area but will go to other parts of the parish as the need arises. The Calshot end of Cowes week fire works display was also policed robustly with 1 sgt 3 PC’s and 1 PCSO committed to the event. This resulted in 4 arrests and one person issued with a fixed penalty ticket for abusive behaviour.

In the past persons have been warned first and requested to go home so it was a bit of a shock to the youth who expected to be able to act anti socially and then stop when asked to end up with an £80. This approach will continue whilst we have a minority of persons who feel that they can get drunk disrupt the community.

Depending on your point of view more person now are being stopped and breath tested at the road side, this has resulted in a number of persons being arrested and charged with drink driving (these numbers are included in the vehicle nuisance figures).

Please don’t drink and drive as it will result in a ban points on your licence and adverse effect on your life style, higher insurance costs and most importantly it puts yourself and others at serious risk of harm. Police will continue to target drink drivers so be warned. Please if you are going to drink then don’t take the car but make other arrangements to get home.

PCSO Bev Hayes is now with us and making a good impression getting to know a lot of the parish and introducing herself to residents and other agencies.

With PSCO Hayes now on the team it will mean that we will be able to have a more visible presence on the street and to deal with the anti social behaviour and nuisance issues which affect the community.

There is also likelihood that towards the end of the year we will have a third PC and extra PCSO’s which will make a real impact on quality of life issues in the community.

On the crime prevention measure thankfully there is very little theft in the parish however the opportunist thieves are around therefore it is essential that people keep their valuables out of view and don’t leave them unattended.

Sat Nav’s CD’s and mobile phones are very easy to make off with and if they are left on view in a car there is potential for them to be stolen together with damage caused to the vehicle in order to get to them.

To prevent this please identity mark your property and don’t leave on display when you are away from your vehicle.

To deal with vehicle crime New Forest Police use a “Trap Car” which is an anonymous vehicle fitted with crime prevention devices such as smart water.

If a person was to break into the trap car they would be covered this smart water which leaves a mark on the thief so that they can be easily identified. There are other crime prevention devices fitted to such a vehicle in order to identify and prosecute the thieves in our community.

PC Garvin Couch has recently been targeting youths using and dealing drugs which has resulted in one youth having his home entered on warrant searched, drugs identified and a police caution for his crime.

Drugs are a problems and not just a harmless recreational past time. If you have any concerns regarding drug use by a family member friend or yourself then please contact

Connexions on 080 0800 13219 or police on 0845 045 45 45 to ask for details of the drugs action team or speak to your GP. If you have any information then you can pass this confidentially to any police officer or contact Hythe SNT on 0845 045 45 45.
