This fortnights parish beat update has quiet a bit of good news in that there crime figures are low, where crimes exist offenders have been arrested and dealt with and extra police resources have been put in place to deal with Friday and Saturday evenings.

Unfortunately there is a down side with yet again numbers of youths being provided alcohol and then left to walk the street or beach and cause nuisance.

On 08th September there was a large number (in excess of 200) of 15-19 year olds who attended Calshot beach and caused a disturbance with around 100 bottles of alcohol seized by police (including litre bottles of vodka) and one person arrested for public order.

There could easily have been more arrests however police resources prevented other persons being arrested. Letters were sent out to parents of identified youths and as a result police patrols for Calshot and Fawley parish have been increase for Fridays and Saturdays to deal with anti social behaviour.

Police have also made a number of arrests for public order drink driving and other matters including a male sending inappropriate photographs of himself. 3 persons have also received cautions for possession of cannabis.

There has only been one burglary were items were taken and police have good evidence now as to offender who will be arrested in due course. Of the assaults of which there are only 3, 2 persons have been arrested and dealt with and the last matter was a minor school boy assault dealt with proportionately.

As a result of the extra patrols in the last month in the Holbury area there has been a considerable reduction in anti social and criminal behaviour around pub leaving times.

However to ensure that the improvement is maintained police have liaised with publicans and licencees. A result of this is that a number of persons have been banned from all public houses in the area as part of PC BARROW’s pub watch scheme.

A couple of off licences have been identified as selling alcohol to persons under 18 and as a result of this they can expect to be subject to test purchasing in near future with fines and possible loss of licence if they fail to meet their lawful obligations.

Unfortunately there is also an issue with unlicensed taxi’s in the area please be aware that to be a lawful taxi operator in the area a valid hackney carriage plate is required. Police action will be taken to deal with this infringement of law and if you are offered a journey by an unlicensed taxi please bear in mind that if this regulation is being breached then other matters which affect safety may also be disregarded.

In Faircross Close Holbury police are currently conducting a joint initiative to deal with public order and neighbour disputes to improve the quality of life of residents.

If offences are disclosed then they will be dealt with (2 persons have been arrested and others will be identified and dealt with also) it is unacceptable to shout swear and intimidate other residents and anyone who does so and is in rented social housing will be in breach of their conditions and may well find themselves at a joint housing/police meeting and face being evicted from their property.

Due to a number of complaints regarding vehicle nuisance especially in Holbury one person is to be interviewed formally regarding misuse of a vehicle and it is likely that in the near future a joint community and roads policing initiative will take place to deal with complaints of speeding and anti social driving in the area.

So be warned if you like to drive inconsiderately!!
