Hello again, and welcome to the quietest and safest area in the county (and probably the country) if our crime figures are anything to go by!
A very low crime count with a high arrest and detection rate.
2 extra Safer Neighbour Hood officers have been patrolling the Calshot area and Fawley areas on Friday and Saturday nights until 0300hrs and found it to be very quite.
One person was given a fixed penalty notice for swearing in the street. Unfortunately this person didn’t learn from this encounter and was arrested with 3 others for breaking into commercial premises and stealing copper wire. All 4 persons are now on police bail whilst further enquires into the offence are made.
There have been burglaries to other commercial premises and if any person has knowledge or information as to who is currently committing crime in our area especially in relation to burglary then this information can be passed to police at Hythe confidentially and this will be acted on.
In other burglaries tea towels were stolen from a restaurant kitchen whilst it was open and a lap top and credit card were stolen from a house by a suspect known to the victim.
2 mobile phones have been stolen from persons who have discovered that they were no longer in possession of the items later in the day, it may well be that these were in fact lost. However regardless as to which, it will be good practice that you have the contact details of your phone provider together with your account details so that if your phone is lost or stolen you can cancel any contract ASAP to ensure that you don’t end up with a bill and so the phone company can prevent further usage of the phone.
There have been no serious assaults in this fortnight and persons have been arrested for allegations made (mainly for domestic violence where police will always take positive action when violence is used).
For other matters 2 persons have been arrested for possession of drugs and dealt with for this, one lady was arrested and charged with drink driving being twice the legal limit and one youth advised that his driving isn’t acceptable and will he will be prosecuted in future for any more anti social driving in the Holbury area.
Totton and Fordingbridge safer neighbour hood teams assisted Hythe police last week in a deterrence and reassurance operation against terrorism. This involved 30 officers stopping and checking vehicles in the Fawley Holbury areas. This will be an ongoing initiative which has been running for the last 6 months.
We are getting reports of distraction burglaries in the Forest area and it is very important that if you are not happy with a person who attends your door that you don’t allow them access to your house.
Criminals can be convincing in their cover stories as such it is important that if in doubt shut the door lock it and phone the organisation they purport to be from and the police. It may well be that by this action you protect a neighbour who could be caught out by the criminal.
The same goes for any letters or emails you receive which are unsolicited, if you haven’t knowledge and they are asking for information of a personal nature it is very likely that this will be a criminal con to get at your hard earned money delete without opening and if you still are concerned then go to the official web page or telephone directory number and contact the organisation that way to verify the contact.
Never use information given by a suspicious person to verify their identity and always trust your instincts.
Finally some more good news a neighbour dispute from Holbury has been dealt with where there were complaints of anti social behaviour loud music and littering, as a result of police action persons have been arrested and are on bail for public order offences, 2 other persons have been given fixed penalty notices for swearing in the street at other persons.
Police, council and housing work closely together and if there are any incidents of anti social behaviour these are dealt with robustly, (an eviction notice has just been issued to a family in the Calshot area who have acted anti socially for a prolonged period).
