| Exbury Maize Maze |
You don’t have to walk the plank to find pirate treasure at Exbury, but you might get lost awhile in the giant maize maze.
The rapidly-growing maize that covers the six acre site opposite Exbury Gardens is shaped to form a taxing puzzle with a treasure chest at its heart.
Each year a different maze is planned by Exbury’s Vicky Scott, who designs the fiendish twists and turns inside the puzzle and oversees the planting of the fast-growing maize plants each year.
“We thought a pirate theme would be a great one this year so that everyone can seek for treasure,” said Vicky who confirmed that the maze would be open until August 31.
“We welcome all-comers to try to solve the riddle of the maze,” she said. “It sounds scary but no-one need worry about getting really lost – we give everyone a red flag to carry and we’ll rush to their rescue if they wave it.”
The Exbury Maze Maize, across the road from the Gardens, is open daily until the end of August from 10.30am-5pm (last entry at 4pm).
You can buy a stand-alone ticket for the maze or a combined tickets for both maze and Gardens, which allows entry on separate days.
