When the Waterside Musical Society set out to search for the juvenile leads for the next production of The Secret Garden there was apprehension that the taxing lead roles would be difficult to fill, and up to the audition date the response from the Waterside area was disappointingly minimal, even after several weeks of advertising.
However some kind of magic must have been at work and a select group of youngsters arrived for the auditions, all of whom showed promise.
We are now very pleased to announce that the leading role of Mary Lennox has been awarded to Victoria Sarker, 13, of Woodlands Community College.
The role of Colin Craven is to be shared between Jessica Chappell, 12, of Noadswood School and Darcy Fry-Green, 10, of Cadland Primary School.
All three have been welcomed into the society and are now working hard to learn and work with the older and more experienced members of the cast.
The Secret Garden, a beautiful musical version of the classic book, will be performed at the Waterside Theatre from 11th - 14th November 2009 and tickets can now be booked by telephone. (023 8084 9708).
