Good Bye and Good Luck Year 11

Year 11 Leavers and their parents returned to Applemore College last Monday to celebrate five years of learning, fun and friendship.

Mr Marsh welcomed everyone and reminded students of the journey they had completed since Year 7, reviewed the many positive changes that have taken place at Applemore College in that time and displayed the last two verses of a poem about Applemore, written by Georgina Trueman five years ago when she was in Year 7, which said it all…

And when you leave, you will leave with your head held high

Because you will know that Applemore has given you what you have always wanted

The good qualifications for life’s obstacles

And we know whatever life can throw at us, we will be prepared.

At Applemore we never leave you

Even when you don’t have belief in yourself

When you fall, we’ll help you get back onto your feet

Because we will always believe in you.

Written in Year 7 by Georgina Trueman (Year 11 Leaver).

Year 11 Tutors presented reviews of each tutor group, set to music, poetry, Mr Men and Little Miss Characters and even in the style of Ladybird Learning to Read books! Many photos of the students when they started senior school were shown – which were accompanied by cries of embarrassment from the Year 11s, and sighs from parents!

Leaving Certificates were presented to all and Special Awards were received by 6 students:

– Outstanding Service as a Prefect – Will Holmes

– Hard Work in all Subjects – Sophie Jakovleva

– Service to College – Ellie Bennett

– Service to the Community – Danielle Hiatt

– All Round Effort – Callum Home

– Perseverance – Stan Pile

Will Holmes and Ellie Bennett (previously Head Boy and Girl) then thanked staff for their support and parents for their nagging, and wished their peers good luck for the future.

This emotional hour of memories and farewells was followed by refreshments and photos in the gym.

Applemore College wishes our leavers every success in the future.
