Hampshire Constabulary – Resumption of Firearm and Shotgun Grant Application Service

With effect from Monday 21 June – subject to the further easing of Government restrictions – Hampshire Constabulary will be resuming service for the grant of new firearm, shotgun and explosives.

This facility will only be available through our online service via the Hampshire Constabulary website or alternatively, search for “Hampshire firearms licensing” via an internet search engine.

However, if you have a genuine reason for not being able to submit an online application, please contact us and we will assist you with the process.

We would like to make you aware that we are still working through a number of new applications that we received prior to the suspension of our grant service in December, and we are using a dedicated team to deal with these. 

If you are one of these applicants and you have not heard from us, please bear with us.

Please note that, depending on the volume of new applications we receive after 21 June, we may need to review our 12-week grant service level agreement (SLA), but we will keep you informed on that.

Please also note that we will be continuing with our policy of applicants submitting their GP form at the point of application, which assists us in making the process as streamlined as possible. 

This form will be available to download from our website (search for “Hampshire firearms licensing”), and must be completed by your GP or a suitably qualified third party medical certificate provider and submitted as part of the application process.

Unfortunately, we are not able to accept applications that are submitted without the completed GP form.
